It’s been darn cold around here lately.  We’ve had quite a bit of snow that hasn’t melted, making getting out to look at properties a little more challenging than usual.  Even walking around properties is difficult because of the ice around and snow that has hidden ice below!  The good part is, though, is that the cold and bad weather tend to keep a lot of tire kickers away from looking at houses, therefore reducing the competition a bit.   I would think that Real Estate Investors in the South don’t have issues with the weather impacting their deal finding, except maybe when it’s unbelievably hot?

I’ve also had issues with some real estate “professionals” (e.g., Realtors, Real Estate Agents/Brokers) not returning emails or calls regarding properties.  It’s amazing that in this horrible real estate market that some people wouldn’t be returning emails or calls.   I bet the buyers out there right now are slim, so why wouldn’t you jump on any lead you have?  Makes no sense to me.  Usually my rule of thumb is that if someone blows me off more than twice, I usually don’t chase him/her…unless the deal is unbelievably good, of course, then I usually find another person that can help me out.

That’s it for now.  Happy Investing!

Hey, another RE investor in Massachusetts. What part?

I was thinking about the weather in the South. I’m sure that when it’s too hot the lookers are about less. But don’t forget those hurricanes. Weather that can REALLY interfere with your real estate hunting, and owning.

Hi! We invest Northern Bristol County, MA (Seekonk, Attleboro, etc.), and you?

I agree…the South sounds great, except I hate the extreme heat. Really hot weather would keep me away from house hunting some days. At least Spring is almost here!
